“I dedicate this award to my 16-year-old self who dreams… and to all those who have watched me grow into the artist that I am today and placed their dream in me to make this change.” — Rosé, on September 8 in New York City.

This was a huge moment, not just for her fans and the K-pop world, but also for Rosé herself. The BLACKPINK member became the first K-pop idol to win Song of the Year at this year’s MTV VMAs for APT, her popular duet with Bruno Mars.

During her speech, Rosé thanked everyone who supported her as she chased her dreams and did what she loves.

When APT came out, it quickly took over social media, sending everyone into euphoric mode. The fun dance challenges people could do with friends, and the catchy song itself, are still stuck in many people’s heads, even though it was released last October.

This isn’t just breaking news; it’s a moment that will keep making history.

“Again, Bruno, my absolute idol and incredible teacher, I love you so much. I hope you’re proud,” Rosé said as she continued to thank her music partner in creating our song of the year.

She also shared a personal message from her therapist that really hit the right spot for many, reminding everyone to keep believing in themselves. It is a reminder that you are not chasing your dreams alone anymore. Sometimes, we are doing it to make the little version of ourselves proud, too.

“As my therapist tells me to do every day, I’d like to thank myself for not giving up. For not giving up even in the toughest of times. And always remember, you’ve got you.” — Rosé.
