If you’re an avid Filipino movie fan, and you happen to hear the line, “Pochero to, Jed, Pochero!” What comes to your mind? Exactly.

ABS-CBN Film Restoration just announced, “Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo” will be digitally restored and remastered for Pinoys to see once again the most chaotic wedding in 2006.

The iconic rom-com movie, conquered the big screen as a 2006 Metro Manila Film Festival entry, but still wins the hearts of every Filipino moviegoer because of its relatable dialogues, one-of-a-kind chemistry, and ever wondered how bland that pochero was? (Well, it was confirmed that Jed said his favorite dish was afritada, but Angie’s pregnant brain said it was pochero — we’ll just leave it to them.)

Their journey was tumultuously full of funny moments. The direction and script by Jose Javier Reyes displayed an abundance of Filipino culture, humor, and sarcasm, which continuously drew attention for almost 15 years.

The film was blessed with incredible casts: Angie, played by the teleserye queen, Judy Anne Santos- Agoncillo, a feisty woman from Cabanatuan who ventured her life in the busy metro as a news writer. She met Jed, Ryan Agoncillo, who works in a magazine company, lived in a lavish home and was raised by a wealthy family. The real-life couple sure made it easy when the cameras started rolling.

Never forget the on-again-off-again relationship of the kumares, Gloria Diaz, who played Charito Valeriano, Jed’s mom, and the bototay queen slash politician, Belita Mariano, Angie’s nanay, played by Gina Pareño.

Sealed the cast lineup include: Ariel Ureta, Lui Villaruz, Kat Alano, Soliman Cruz, Juliana Palermo, Derek Ramsay, Tuesday Vargas, and AJ Perez.

Everything started when the couple met in a club with their friends, and unexpectedly fell in love because of their opposite characteristics. Jed’s very reserved, Angie’s a social butterfly; he was raised in a very comfortable environment, her parents got separated, living in an unfortunate situation.

When the couple got engaged after 4 months of dating, the wedding preparations became so chaotically hilarious when everyone in the family started to intervene. Who would invite the whole city of Cabanatuan and business partners in Manila to attend a wedding of a budding couple? Only Charito and Belita. A lot of funny spiels between these two.

One year after their marriage, they were blessed with a boy, later named Rafa, played by Timothy Chan, in its sequel, “Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo.” Before that bundle of joy arrived, misery came into the newlyweds when Jed met Mariel or Juliana Palermo and became his mistress. It truly tested their relationship but put Jed into a great realization.

The film shows a colorful and fun-spirited but sincere and perceptive at the same time. It vividly displays that no matter how exhausting the situation is, Filipinos shine to be resilient and positive.

To date, the film garnered 30 awards and 24 nominations.
