The Philippine Red Cross (PRC)-Zamboanga Chapter opened starting Wednesday a vaccination center for all priority groups in this southern port city.

This came after the Ayala Group of Companies donated 300 Moderna vials, which is equivalent to 3,000 doses of vaccines, for the city residents through the local PRC chapter.

The PRC-Zamboanga vaccination center is located at its headquarters along Rizal Street, commonly known as Pettit Barracks, just across from the city’s health office (CHO).

“The PRC in collaboration with the CHO opens its doors for all eligible individuals (walk-in) for primary doses (first and second doses) including first and second booster doses,” PRC said in a statement.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said the opening of the local PRC vaccination center will boost the CHO inoculation activity here.

Meanwhile, Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said Wednesday that more than 1.3 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered since the vaccination program rolled out in March 2021 in this city.

Miravite said 685,614 of the total doses administered are for the first dose, while the remaining 674,760 are second doses.

“With the Department of Health-set target population of 716,960, the city is now 94 percent fully vaccinated,” she said. (PNA)
