The number of police officers who contracted the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has reached 1,600.

As of Tuesday night, the Philippine National Police (PNP) Health Service reported 36 more Covid-19 cases among its ranks.

A total of 610 personnel have recovered from the disease while the death toll stands at nine.

The PNP Health Service is also monitoring 727 probable cases and 1,767 suspected cases.

The majority of cops who have contracted the Covid-19 are asymptomatic.

If a cop tests positive, he/she will observe a 14-day quarantine and undergo another test. Once cleared, they have to rest for seven to 10 more days before going back to duty.

The infected cops came from those who are manning quarantine checkpoints. (PNA)
