The Philippine National Police (PNP) has acquired PHP35.3 million worth of new vehicles as part of its continued logistical enhancement program in support of field operations.

PNP officer-in-charge, Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., said the funds used to acquire eight units of 4 x 4 personnel carrier and three light transport vehicles were from the increased appropriation for the fiscal year 2021 sponsored by Senators Sonny Angara and Imee Marcos.

“This initiative is a very big help to the PNP in terms of enhancing our mobility capability. Ito ay di lamang po napakalaking tulong sa ating (This is not only a huge help to us in the) PNP but also to the community they serve as well,” Danao said during the turnover ceremony on Monday afternoon in Camp Crame.

PNP director for logistics and bids and awards committee chair Maj. Gen. Ronaldo Olay presented the vehicles to Angara lone district Rep. Rommel Rico Angara.

Olay said the eight personnel carriers will be distributed to eight municipal police stations of Aurora province — Baler, Dingalan, Casiguran, Dipaculao, Dilasag, Maria Aurora, Dinalungan, and San Luis, while the three light transport vehicles are intended for PNP Academy and PNP Training Institute.

“Sa ating walong municipal police stations na mapalad na makakatanggap nitong mga sasakyan, sana ay pakakaingatan at gamitin ninyo ito ng maayos para matagal pa ninyo itong mapakinabangan (We hope that the eight municipal police stations that will receive these vehicles will take care of them properly for them to last for a long time),” Danao said.
