Reminiscing about her win at Miss Universe 2015, Filipina beauty queen Pia Wurtzbach-Jauncey shared her remarkable win at the international pageant.

During her interview with Emirati entrepreneur Anas Bukhash, Miss Universe 2015 Pia exposed her unrevealed experiences during her win.

At first, Pia admitted that she thought that winning the pageant was a prank due to her past experiences of losing the same contest in previous years.

During the winner announcement, the beauty queen was suspicious of what would happen next as she observed the staff on the stage.

“Because of my experience in showbiz in the Philippines, I knew there was something wrong because the cameramen were all scrambling everywhere,” she shared.

Pia disclosed that she didn’t bother to grasp the moment at that time, as she was shocked when the spotlight suddenly pointed at her and not at the candidate in front of them.

Following this scenario, the beauty queen also disclosed how she felt bad when she was standing with Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez at that time.

“How could you celebrate at a moment like that? That’s not how I want to win; that’s not how anybody wants to win because I know what it feels like to lose,” Pia said.

As she was announced the winner of Miss Universe 2015, she highlighted how she considered how Gutiérrez would feel, noting that some of the audience might humiliate her for not winning.

“I felt that fans were happy, but there were also people who were really upset, and it gave me mixed emotions,” Pia said.

The beauty queen then disclosed that she only grasped her win during her stay backstage. With this, she was reminded about the struggles and criticisms that she faced during the pageant.

“I get a flashback of all the sacrifices, all of the times that you were told you weren’t good enough, and all of the times that you felt like you weren’t providing enough for my family,” Pia shared.

Having these all in mind, Pia shared how, up until now, she was still feeling amazed and mesmerized by her win during Miss Universe 2015.

Summing up her dilemmas and even doubts within herself, she described her win as the “night that changed my life,” fulfilling her dreams and raising the flag for Filipinos.

Pia Wurtzbach-Jauncey was an actress before she entered the world of pageantry. After her win in 2015, she was considered the first Filipina to win Miss Universe in the 21st century.
