The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) on Tuesday assured the public that essential mail delivery operations remain ongoing despite the persistent heavy rains and widespread flooding caused by heavy monsoon rains.

The PHLPost said it is continuing to deliver important documents, government communications, and relief-related correspondence in areas where it is safe to do so, recognizing the vital role of communications during emergencies.

“PHLPost stands as a vital public utility in delivering communications and services, especially when the public needs it most,” the agency said in a statement.

The Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) remains fully operational with disaster protocols firmly in place. Postal services continue in unaffected areas, while postal teams on the ground actively monitor local conditions to resume suspended services as soon as feasible.

The PHLPost also emphasized that the safety of its letter carriers and personnel remains a top priority. Postal operations are being conducted in close coordination with local disaster response units and guided by strict safety protocols to protect both the workers and the mail entrusted to them.

The agency called on the public for understanding in areas experiencing unavoidable delays and reiterated its commitment to serve the Filipino people, even under challenging circumstances.

Torrential rains, which have affected large parts of Luzon and the Visayas, has led to the suspension of work and classes in multiple areas, road closures, and the evacuation of thousands of families due to rising floodwaters.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has warned that more rain is expected in the coming days, prompting continued monitoring and disaster preparedness efforts nationwide.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has already issued a firm directive to prepare for all aspects of emergency response this rainy season, especially in flood-prone areas. (PNA)
