The Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) on Thursday deployed two 10-wheel trucks to transport 3,400 food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) warehouse in Metro Manila to Guiguinto, Bulacan.

The move was in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to support disaster recovery efforts following heavy rains brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon.

Acting Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer Maximo Sta. Maria III, Assistant Postmaster General for Operations Benjie Yotoko, Area Operations Director IV Gilbert Javier, and Express Mail Manager Boyet Delito were present during the hauling operations.

PHLPost said it is in constant coordination with the Office of Civil Defense Operations Center and the DSWD for the possible deployment of additional trucks, if needed.

It also assured the public that postal operations continue despite work suspensions in several areas due to the inclement weather.

Sta. Maria has instructed all area directors, especially those in affected regions, to submit comprehensive situational reports on the damage caused by tropical cyclone Dante. (PNA)
