The Million Trees Foundation, Inc. (MTFI) of the Philippines and Denmark’s Grundfos have officially inaugurated the “Circle of Life” project to boost the country’s massive tree planting nationwide.

The program, held at the sprawling La Mesa Watershed in Quezon City on Aug. 18, was attended by retired Gen. Renaldo Velasco, MTFI chairman emeritus and Annual Million Trees Challenge founder, and Melandrew Velasco, MTFI president and director.

The “Circle of Life” project is aimed at protecting the environment to ensure a steady water supply by planting more trees in the watershed and forested areas of the country.

Grundfos, the world’s largest pump manufacturer, is known worldwide for caring for the environment for future generations.

MTFI’s million-trees vision, on the other hand, is “for water to keep flowing, trees must keep growing.”

MTFI also aims to promote water conservation and soil rehabilitation by planting trees.

The collaboration between Grundfos and MTFI is in line with Grundfos’ values and mission to be socially responsible, promote sustainability, reduce environmental impact, and engage actively with the local community. (PNA)
