The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is further expanding the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) by partnering with additional service providers, notably more privately owned clinics in Misamis Occidental.

On Wednesday, PhilHealth Northern Mindanao vice president Delio Aseron II joined the launching of another YAKAP-partner clinic at Misamis University (MU) in Ozamiz City.

With the YAKAP accreditation, the campus clinic will not only offer free primary care services to its students, teachers and university personnel but also serve community stakeholders.

“We already have 39 clinics – 14 are privately owned, and 25 come from government facilities,” Aseron said.

Gerion Cabang, officer-in-charge of PhilHealth’s Local Health Insurance Office in Ozamiz City, said all health centers in the province’s 14 municipalities and three cities have been accredited under YAKAP.

He stated that all clinics and facilities accredited under the program can offer free consultations and laboratory tests, along with an annual medicine allowance of up to PHP20,000 for all members.

MU president Dr. Karen Belina De Leon said the university can improve healthcare access for students, faculty and staff by reaffirming its commitment to their well-being. (PNA)
