Additional 324 patients have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), pushing the country’s overall tally of recovered cases to 466,249 on Tuesday.

In its 4 p.m. case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said the figures represent 92.5 percent of those who tested positive for the virus nationwide.

The agency also reported 1,357 new confirmed cases and 69 new deaths.

These figures brought the overall tally of active cases to 27,857 and the death toll to 9,978.

The DOH said about 86.1 percent of the active cases are mild, 6.1 percent are asymptomatic, 2.7 percent are severe, 0.42 percent are moderate, and 4.7 percent are in critical condition.

“There were seven duplicates that were removed from the total case count, and of these, six recovered cases have been removed. Moreover, 56 cases that were previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation”, it added.

Davao City topped the list of places that logged the highest number of new cases with 130 infections.

It was followed by Rizal with 71; Quezon City with 66; Pampanga with 54; and Benguet with 52.

DOH data on Jan. 18 showed that 941 or 5.7 percent of 16,444 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.

Currently, there are 25,900 beds dedicated to patients with Covid-19.

Available are 58 percent of 2,200 intensive care unit beds, 64 percent of 15,900 isolation beds, and 75 percent of 7,800 ward beds.

About 78 percent of 2,100 ventilators are available for Covid-19 patients’ use.

The DOH noted the relative decrease in the number of recorded cases today is attributed to the increased number of non-operating laboratories during the weekend. (PNA)
