The Department of Health on Monday reported 226 new recovered cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19), pushing its overall tally nationwide to 310,303.

In its latest case bulletin, the DOH also logged 2,638 new confirmed cases, bringing the total number of active cases to 42,191.

Of the active cases, about 83.1 percent are mild, 11.3 percent are asymptomatic, 2.1 percent are severe, and 3.6 percent are in critical condition.

The majority of the newly announced cases are from Quezon City with 141, Cavite with 140, Laguna with 128, Batangas with 120, and Rizal with 108 infections.

The DOH also reported 26 deaths, which brings the death toll to 6,675. Of the new deaths, 15 occurred in October, two in September, 5 in August, and four in July.

“Some 87 duplicates were removed from the total case count and 76 of these were recovered cases and three were deaths. Moreover, five cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said.

It also noted that the nation’s case fatality rate is 1.86 percent; positivity rate, 9.87 percent; case doubling time, 12.35; and mortality doubling time, 17.47.

As of Sunday, the 112 licensed reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) laboratories and 35 licensed GeneXpert laboratories have conducted a total of 4,136,389 tests nationwide.

DOH said it has 20,800 total bed capacity dedicated to Covid-19 patients.

Occupied are about 46 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds; 42 percent of 13,300 isolation beds; and 42 percent of 5,600 ward beds.

About 22 percent of 2,000 ventilators are in use. (PNA)
