President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has declared March 17 and Aug. 15, 2025, as special non-working days in Davao City to mark two major local celebrations.

Proclamation 825, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on March 11, declares March 17 a special non-working day in Davao City for the Araw ng Pasasalamat sa 88th Araw ng Davao.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Davao be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the proclamation read.

The annual festivities, which take place from March 1 to 16, commemorate Davao’s official recognition as a city on March 16, 1936, and its formal inauguration on March 1, 1937.

Separately, Proclamation 826 designates Aug. 15 as a special non-working day for the 40th Kadayawan Festival and Indigenous Peoples Day.

The Kadayawan Festival, an annual event in Davao City held every third week of August, celebrates the region’s rich culture and bountiful harvest. (PNA)
