This is not just a simple first-ever win of the Philippines in the name of tennis. It is the pride and a moment to cherish for a lifetime!

Alexandra Eala, a 20-year-old Filipino tennis player, just won right on the day of the Philippines’ National Heroes Day, Filipino time. To deliver bravery in keeping on swinging her racket and to hold tight to her hopes is Eala’s unique charm.

“To be Filipino is something I take so much pride in.” — Alexandra Eala.

In 2022, Eala won her Junior Grand Slam singles title, and now, she is on fire, as she won the US Open match just on August 25 at Flushing Meadows, New York.

It was not an easy match; it was a tight grip. Eala managed to win the first set, but Clara Tauson of Denmark got her comeback in the second set. It was a long hold of breath for the Filipinos, especially for Eala, as the third set’s tiebreaker was her last hope.

But the third set’s tiebreaker left Tauson frustrated as Eala still won the US Grand Slam main-draw match.

“They weren’t kidding when they said this was the city of dreams. All sights set on the second round.” — Alexandra Eala on Instagram.

The family and fans of Eala are now waiting for her next swing toward her goal. It will be a match against Spain’s Cristina Bucsa or American qualifier Claire Liu. For now, the Filipino tennis star is taking this grand victory for a moment as she prepares for her next breathtaking match.
