Improvements in peace and order policies were considered a factor in the trust of the business sector, leading to more registrations in Ozamiz City in Misamis Occidental province, the mayor here said Thursday.

In a statement, Mayor Henry Oaminal Jr. said business registrations doubled since 2019, from 2,153 to 4,146, with 267 pending applications this year.

“This administration, when it started in 2019, even before I assumed office, has made peace and order a priority,” he said.

Oaminal, a lawyer, believes that ensuring peace and order will lead to development.

With this, the city government invested in supporting the needs of the police force and crafting ordinances to aid law enforcement activities.

He mentioned the recent launch of the city command center and the mandatory installation of security cameras in business establishments as support.

Meanwhile, Oaminal welcomed the development of naming the city as one of the three special justice zones in the Northern Mindanao region, specializing in cases of Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children.

He said the justice zone in Ozamiz is a milestone in the peace and order situation in the city. (PNA)
