The Pasig City government has started the grant of monthly local pension to some 16,669 elderly residents.

Qualified senior citizens will get PHP500 which can be received via the beneficiaries’ automated teller machine (ATM) cards.

In a statement Wednesday, the city government said it will also schedule a manual distribution of pensions for non-ATM holders per village.

It also urged the beneficiaries and family representatives to refrain from going too early to the distribution venues and to secure all necessary documents required for availing of the pension.

Observing public health protocols during distribution activity is still required.

Meanwhile, the city government is encouraging parents of fully vaccinated immunocompromised minors, aged 12 to 17 years old, to have their kids administered with the first booster Covid-19 shot.

Booster shots for minors can be taken 28 days after receiving the second primary dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. A medical certificate from physicians is required during the first booster vaccination for the vulnerable age group.

Further, the city government offers free electric vehicle charging for the public.

It has recently opened a solar-powered charging station, composed of four charging pods for electric vehicles, with two 220V outlets, allowing the simultaneous charging of at least eight vehicles.

The charging station, located at the Pasig Mega Parking II, comes with a 12 kilowatt (kW) Solar Grid Tie system, capable of saving 1,440 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per month.

The charging station will still be able to tap into the main power grid of the building in case the power generated from charging exceeds the capabilities of the solar panels, the city said.

To avail of the service, drivers must sign in to the attendant’s log book and should undergo a short briefing on the proper usage of charging pods.

A staff from the city hall will assist drivers but they must also bring their own charger and adaptor.

A maximum of three hours will be allowed for charging time. (PNA)
