Holidays and long weekends are over which means it’s time to get back to work. As everyone has a hangover from recent events, working people normally shared their sentiments about going back to work after all the fun during the holiday season.

This has been highlighted by content creator and influencer Donnalyn Bartolome in her recent Facebook post stating that Filipinos should still be grateful to get back to work.

Despise by many, the content creator’s statement was called out by Filipinos for being insensitive, especially to those who are underpaid and minimum wage earners.

“Love the optimism. Pero it doesn’t apply sa mga minimum wage earners. And that’s the reality,” a netizen commented in Donnalyn’s post.

Donnalyn expressed her apology hence, she emphasized that the issue of minimum wage should not be used as a reason to be ungrateful for their work, backing it up with her relatives’ past experience in such issues.

“Hindi ko dinedisregard yung minimum wage issue, I pray it improves for people in the situation. Pero wala talagang mangyayari sa buhay natin if magdwell tayo sa negative,” the content creator added.

Local influencers such as Janina Vela also disclosed thoughts in Donnalyn’s Facebook post, addressing that the content creator should not invalidate the struggles and feelings of Filipino workers.

The said topic ignited by Donnalyn is still trending on different social media platforms as netizens continue to share their insights about the issue.

How about you, what is your take on Donnalyn Bartolome’s statement? Would you agree or disagree that individuals should not be “sad” or emotional because of going back to work?
