Miss Universe Thailand National Director Nawat Itsaragrisil publicly addressed the recent controversies surrounding the pageant during the Universe Ceremony on Tuesday night, November 5.

In an emotional moment, Nawat apologized to the public and acknowledged the pressure he has faced amid the backlash. “I think you must understand the pressure is a lot. I am a human sometimes, I cannot control. But by the way, I have not [intended] to harm anyone because I respect all of you…I’m sorry,” he said.

His statement comes after weeks of speculation and criticism directed at the organization and its leadership. While Nawat did not go into detail about the specific issues, his brief but heartfelt apology appeared to be a call for understanding and reconciliation with fans and supporters of the Miss Universe Thailand pageant.
