The Naval Reserve Command (NRC) on Thursday announced that it has received humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) equipment from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The ceremonial turnover took place at the NRC headquarters at Sangley Point, Cavite City on April 22, the NRC said in a news release.

The donations included two rescue rubber boats with outboard motors, two diesel generators, handheld radios, life jackets, rescue buoys, and various other essential HADR tools and equipment.

NRC commander Maj. Gen. Doroteo Jose Jalandoni welcomed the delegation from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, represented by Elder Francis Soberano, Cavite Stake president.

Also present were Philippine Marine Corps Foundation Inc. (PMCFI) treasurer, Marine Reservist Brig. Gen. Rodlyn Manzano, who also facilitated this initiative.

“The donations will help to enhance your capacity to respond swiftly and effectively when disaster strikes, and it will serve as a symbol of continued friendship and shared commitment to humanitarian service,” Soberano said as he formally handed the donations on behalf of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He also recognized the NRC as a critical partner in times of disaster.

Meanwhile, Jalandoni expressed his appreciation to the religious group and PMFCI for the “God-given grace” donations received by the NRC.

He highlighted the importance of this donation, not just to “help capacitate your reserve force and the military, but it is designed to help the communities as well… It is easier to do the job with these additional resources.” (PNA)
