The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) on Monday said over 6.6 million free rides have so far been given to its passengers since March 28.

“Nagpapatuloy ngayong Lunes sa huling linggo nito ang libreng sakay na layong maipakita sa mga pasahero ang mas pinagandang serbisyo ng fully rehabilitated nang MRT-3 (The free ride program continues this Monday for its last week and is meant to showcase to passengers the improved service of the fully rehabilitated MRT-3),” the MRT-3 said in a Facebook post.

During its third week from April 18 to 24, it said the program provided 2,003,004 free rides, compared to 2,666,030 free rides during its second week (from April 4 to 12), and 1,934,424 free rides in its first week (from March 28 to April 3).

To date, the MRT-3 can operate three four-car trains and 18 three-car trains—with each train car capable of carrying up to 394 passengers.

Most of the comprehensive rehabilitation of the MRT-3 was completed by December 2021 and was inaugurated in March by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade.

During the event, Duterte announced the month-long free ride program from March 28 to April 30 at the MRT-3. (PNA)
