From the dazzling lights of the Miss Universe stage to the commanding halls of leadership, Ariella Arida’s journey is not simply a transition—it’s an evolution. A decade after capturing hearts as the Philippines’ Miss Universe 2013 representative, she now stands at the helm of one of the most revered platforms for Filipina empowerment: Miss Universe Philippines. And while the sash and crown may have been passed on, Arida’s purpose has only grown stronger.

Life After the Crown

Ariella’s post-pageant life was never defined by a singular path. “After my reign, my plan was simply to embrace all the opportunities that came my way,” she shares. That openness led her into hosting and acting, most notably her stint on Wowowin, where she found the freedom to be her most authentic self. “I wouldn’t say I reinvented myself, rather, people finally got to see who I genuinely am.” Through the screen, audiences discovered not just a queen, but a woman of depth, humility, and relatability.

The transition wasn’t about stepping into a new identity—it was about revealing the layers beneath the tiara. “Reinvention came naturally because people embraced me for who I truly am,” she adds, pointing to the organic evolution of her career. And perhaps, that is where her quiet leadership began—by simply allowing her truest self to be seen.

Embracing Leadership

While Ariella never actively pursued a leadership role after her reign, she acknowledges that it’s always been in her DNA. “Looking back, leadership has always been a part of me. I was often elected class president growing up, and I was an active member of the Girl Scouts.” Today, those early seeds of leadership have grown into something greater, as she now plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of beauty queens.

As the National Director of Miss Universe Philippines, Ariella is now navigating a realm that’s as challenging as it is fulfilling. “I believe the role was given to me at the perfect time, one that came with experience and growth,” she says. With 12 years between her candidacy and her executive role, she reflects on the trust and continuity that made her transition smoother. “The trust that has been built over those 12 years made the shift smoother. While the responsibility is no small task, I have full faith in the people who entrusted me with this role.”

The Queen Who Guides

Perhaps the most fulfilling aspect of her current role is the opportunity to mentor. “This is truly an honor for me. I never imagined myself in such a significant role of guiding the next generation of queens,” she reveals. More than just a leader, Ariella has become a lighthouse for young women who are still discovering their own strength and identity. “I’m genuinely happy to be in this position, where I can share my experiences and journey to show that life becomes even more beautiful once we start believing in ourselves.”

Guiding 66 candidates—the highest number in Miss Universe Philippines history—has not been without challenges. “Managing this number of delegates is definitely no easy task,” she admits. From schedules and trainings to storytelling and engagement, the job demands vision and stamina. And yet, it’s evident she carries it all with grace and gratitude.

Redefining Beauty, Purpose, and Power

Ariella’s current lens on beauty, purpose, and influence is shaped by depth and experience. “Stepping into this role has given deeper meaning to every aspect of my journey,” she reflects. It’s no longer just about appearance—it’s about alignment. “By embracing who I am and practicing gratitude toward the people around me, I believe I can make a meaningful impact on the 66 incredible girls I’m guiding this year.”

And when asked what she would tell her younger self, the answer is simple, yet powerful: “I just want to hug myself, give a little pat on the back, and say, ‘You did a great job.’” It’s a reminder that every step of her path, every pivot and pause, has brought her here—not just a woman who once wore a crown, but one who now builds others up to wear it with purpose.
