There is probably no one today who hasn’t heard of the trending TikTok meme “Nothing beats a Jet2Holiday” and wondered who the woman behind the iconic sound is.
Zoë Lister, the woman behind the voiceover, is a 43-year-old British actress, voice artist, and screenwriter. Born on March 10, 1982, she appeared in the British soap opera Hollyoaks between 2006 and 2010 and has been doing the Jet2holidays adverts for quite some years now.
While she’s long been the voice of the brand, the voice actress recently blew up when a viral TikTok meme gained traction from users. The viral sound features the upbeat Jet2Holidays tagline over Jess Glynn’s song “Hold my Hand” and has taken over TikTok with millions of clips funnily showcasing users and their supposed travel and daily life fails.
In the viral sound, she chimes, “Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday. And right now, you can save £50 per person. That’s £200 off for a family of four.”
In an interview with a morning news show called This Morning, Lister shared how she has been doing the voiceover clips for Jet2 for around seven years, but this one has been a “slow burn.”
“I’ve imagined many things in my life, but I didn’t think this voiceover would be the thing, ever,” Lister said when asked if she ever thought that a simple voiceover would take over her life.
Lister also shared what encounters of hearing her voice out in public have made her feel.
“It’s so bizarre; I was, like, on the train or in a cafe and there was somebody scrolling their phone and I could just hear them watching Jet 2 Holiday and I was like, ‘This has gotten so weird.’”
she said. “Going viral for something is just so funny and joyful. It’s like–that’s a wonderful experience.”
Besides being a voice actress, Lister also wrote for television shows such as “The Worst Witch,” “Free Rein,” and “The Lodge.”
Now, Zoë Lister is riding the wave of viral fame by booking gig appearances, popping up on morning TV shows, and becoming a TikTok sensation in her own right.
