Marvel surprisingly gave fans their first gay teen cover of ‘Captain America’ in a new limited comic series entitled “The United States of Captain America” to be released on June 2, 2021. The debut of the new gay superhero will be honoring Pride Month in line with the celebration of Captain America’s 80th anniversary in the Marvel Cinema.

In a press release, the publishing company stated that Aaron Fischer will be the teen (Captain America of the Railways) superhero. The story was co-written by Christopher Cantwell and Joshua Trujillo and drawn by Jan Bazaldua, a transgender artist.

According to writer Joshua Trujillo, “Aaron is inspired by heroes of the queer community: activists, leaders, and everyday folks pushing for a better life,” Trujillo explained that this new superhero, like all other heroes, stands for the oppressed and the forgotten.

“I hope his debut story resonates with readers and helps inspire the next generation of heroes,” Trujillo added.

Also, Jan Bazaldua shared that he enjoyed designing the new character, and as a transgender, he said, “I am happy to be able to present an openly gay person who admires Captain America and fights against evil to help those who are almost invisible to society.”

Not much of typical colorful LGBTQ+ signs, Bazaldua designed Fischer as a normal Captain America with black-haired, shave-headed, having an American flag tattoo on his not-so-masculine arm, and a red star tattoo on his neck –while holding his most iconic gear.

“While I was drawing him, I thought, well, Cap fights against super-powerful beings and saves the world almost always, but Aaron helps those who walk alone in the street with problems that they face every day. I hope people like the end result!,” the artist added.

The company described Fischer as “a fearless teen who stepped up to protect fellow runaways and the unhoused.”

To the delight of fans, Marvel also showed several LGBTQ+ comic heroes in a stunning artwork of Phil Jimenez including America Chavez, Black Cat, Daken, Hulkling & Wiccan, Iceman, Moondragon, Mystique, and Northstar. Here are his first four PRIDE MONTH superheroes:
