Despite never having competed in a Miss Universe pageant, she has previous experience as a judge on the local pageant scene. Rivera said she is excited and is up for the challenge.

Rivera began her career as a model and went on to star in dramas such as Marimar, Dyesebel, Darna, and Amaya, in which she played the title roles.

This is not the first time that a Filipino was invited to judge in the prestigious Miss Universe, in fact, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and Broadway singer Lea Salonga have already joined the judging committee.

The actress is now set to fly to Israel on Monday, December 6 to judge at the preliminary competition, beauty queens’ interviews and the coronation night.
