The city government of Manila is gearing up for the start of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination for the pediatric group aged 5 to 11 years old.

Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso on Tuesday evening said the vaccination of the 5-11 pediatric age group will be held at the first two sites set to be launched soon.

He said more vaccination sites will be established for the 5 to 11 years old to make it easier for parents and guardians to bring their children.

This, as he also encouraged parents and guardians to register their qualified children at the www.manilacovid19vaccine.ph, assuring them that the Covid-19 vaccines are safe for children.

Domagoso, meanwhile, said the vaccination for minors aged 12 to 17 years old will continue, urging parents to avail of the free Covid-19 vaccines for their children’s protection.

He said most of the people who contracted Covid-19 are unvaccinated, including children.

On Monday, National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said the government will start administrating formulated Covid-19 vaccine to children aged 5 to 11 years old by February 4.

He said the formulated low-dosing Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine that will especially be used for the younger population is expected to arrive in the country on February 2.

The city government of Manila has so far administered a total of 3,176,945 Covid-19 vaccine doses, with 1,539,278 individuals, including 112,793, already fully vaccinated. (PNA)
