Majarlica embarks on a fresh journey as the newest artist under StarPop with the release of her single “Royalty,” a regal take on modern romance.
The new Kapamilya act, whose real name is Angelica Tagadtad, is a Canada-based media artist, filmmaker, and singer-songwriter born in Quezon City. Majarlica began her media journey as a health and safety intern on set and, through persistence, transitioned into the camera department before gaining hands-on experience as a director’s shadow—sharpening her skills in production, directing, and screenwriting. She also served as panelist for FILCAN Creative 2023 and won the FILCAN Music Award Solo Artist of the Year.
Majarlica also dabbled into covers and songwriting before eventually becoming a recording artist.
“If someone told me at 13 that I’d be writing songs not only for myself but for other exceptional artists, and sharing these stories with the world, I would’ve been surprised. From being a cover artist to a songwriter and now a recording artist—thank you, StarPop, for marking the start of this new chapter,” Majarlica reflected.
Self-composed and produced, “Royalty” captures a kind of love that is powerful, secure, and mutually honored—drawing parallels between a strong relationship and the balance of a king and queen.
Alongside her work in film, she has continued to grow her music career while completing her degree at the University of Toronto. Majarlica has written songs for other artists including Belle Mariano’s “I, Save Me,” Kai Montinola’s “Self Love Era,” Michelle Dee’s “Reyna,” and many more. She also opened for several artists like Parokya ni Edgar, Ben&Ben, and Itchyworms in their shows in Canada.
She has released several singles including “Siguro,” and “Patawarin Mo Ako,” and has also taken on acting roles in projects like “We Shall Not Sleep (Ligaw, Digmaan),” further showcasing her commitment to telling authentic and meaningful stories. Majarlica previously won as Miss Philippines Earth Quezon City 2021 and released the single “Kalikasan” in support of her advocacy.
