iWantTFC’s original movie “Malaya,” which features the first on-screen pairing of Lovi Poe and Zanjoe Marudo, earned four nominations at the prestigious 44th Gawad Urian Awards, including two for its lead stars in the major acting categories.

Lovi and Zanjoe will be competing for the Best Actress and Best Actor trophies, respectively. In the film, they play Malaya and Iago, second-generation overseas Filipinos who strike a special connection while trying to make a living in Puglia, Italy.

“Malaya” also earned a Best Cinematography nod for McCoy Tarnate and a Best Production Design nomination for Jay Custodio.

Directed by Connie Macatuno, “Malaya” puts the real-life experiences of overseas Filipinos at the forefront with characters who are extremely devoted to their families, ambitions, and priorities.

Co-produced by ABS-CBN’s Dreamscape Entertainment and Sisu, “Malaya” can be streamed for free on the iWantTFC app and website (iwanttfc.com) in the Philippines and is available to premium subscribers outside the Philippines.

Organized by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino, the 44th Gawad Urian Awards is scheduled on October 6.
