Jane Marczweski, the singer whose breakout performance and inspiring life story were witnessed in the latest season of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent ” died Sunday, after a long battle with cancer at age 31.

Known with her stage name Nightbirde, Jane was a fan favorite on season 16 and one of the most remarkable contestants who received Simons Cowell’s Golden Buzzer.

Performing her originally composed song called “It’s OK”, Nightbirde also disclosed during her performance that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017 and has already spread to her lungs, spine, and liver. Her story brought tears and admiration as she impressed everyone with her courage, positivity, and resolve.

“I have a 2% chance of survival but 2% is not 0%. 2% is something and I wish people knew how amazing it is,” she said. This statement motivated many people and called her an inspiration.

In her official Instagram account last August, Nightbirde shared that her health has taken a turn for worse and her fight with cancer has been demanding, leading her to not continue forward the season of America’s Got Talent.

“Life doesn’t always give breaks to those that deserve it- but we knew that already.” Emphasizing that she still got dreams and is planning for her future amidst her painful battle with cancer.

A statement shared by Jane’s family in TMZ “Those who knew her enjoyed her larger-than-life personality and sense of humor. She had a witty joke for every occasion — even if the joke was on her. Her lasting legacy will be the gift of hope she communicated through music and the strength she found in Jesus.”

With the saddening news of her demise, she is remembered with her inspiring story filled with messages of faith and purpose by millions of people around the globe. And as her death comes with a purpose, let us relive the life lessons captured from the story of this remarkable woman with the hope that her determination and bravery inspire you too.

1. Life is both a series of hard and beautiful experiences.

Most people are afraid to be happy with the fear that everything comes with a price. There are a lot of reasons to be afraid but there is also always a reason to be thankful and to be happy. In her journey, we are taught that “hard” and “beautiful” come together in hand. Although it is inevitable to experience both, there is beauty that lies in between these two.

2. When fear is present, it is important to always have faith.

This world is full of fearful things that are meant to shake us up. There is no skip button to surpass fear in a shortcut. However, if we are guarded with faith that everything will eventually work together, our fear will be overcome with the will of constantly striving to press past the fear.

3. It’s okay not to be okay.

None of us is okay and doing fine every day. There are areas and stages in our lives that we felt completely lost and insecure. And that is okay. It is always okay for you to feel that you’re not okay. There are surely dark days waiting for you; however, life is a tunnel that to see the end with full light, you need to walk until you see it with your own eyes. No, you’re not okay in every way, but there is an assurance that you will be okay even when you feel all these uncertainties in life.

4. Never lose your hope and never give up.

Cliché as it may sound but never giving up, is a mantra that has been pushing people to continue with their lives. You are not stronger than anyone else, but with the hope you have in you, giving up will never be an option. Keep the audacity with you and always dare yourself to move and never stop.

5. Find the answer to your whys and what ifs.

One of the things that Nightbirde keeps inspiring people who got to know her is her clear platform of sharing how she found her purpose in life. This is the same thing that will help people to find the answer to their whys and what ifs. Remember what the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzche said: “A person who has a reason to live for, can endure almost any how.” In other words, a purpose-driven life is the answer to all your questions.

Jane “Nightbirde” Marczweski, a woman with a massive heart that motivated and will continue to inspire more people with her legacy will forever be remembered as she left only the shining, happy memories with her story and music filled with love and strength. She fought the good fight and has finished the course.
