Up-and-coming singer-songwriter Kio Priest takes an introspective view on his life in his first EP called “mental gymnasium.”

“This is an album born from all of the mental gymnastics from everything that happened to me for the past few months. These are real and loud answers to thoughts about a convenient love affair, why I shouldn’t give up on myself, why I should let go of others, why I should stay, and just plain why,” the queer artist said.

“Going through all that feels is like going through mental gymnastics,” he added.

The EP released under StarPop has six songs including the key track “txt you 1st” about self-preservation which features fellow Kapamilya artist Anji Salvacion.

Other tracks included are “cherry blossoms,” “cut u off,” “overthinking,” and previously released singles “cool with you” and “night time prince,” which were all written and produced by Kio.

Prior to his singing career, Kio already crafted commercial jingles for various brands and wrote songs for various Filipino artists including Nadine Lustre, James Reid, Enchong Dee, and Matteo Guidicelli.

He is currently pursuing a solo career aiming to create music that mirrors real life experiences as a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
