“Fit Check: Confessions of an Ukay Queen,” ABS-CBN Entertainment, Dreamscape Entertainment, and Prime Video’s collaboration, currently leads the list of most watched TV shows in the Philippines on Prime Video.

The fashion-themed comedy-drama series marks the first team-up of Kim Chiu and Jake Ejercito, with the latter admitting that he felt pressured working with the Kapamilya actress.

“Noong una kong nalaman that I will be teamed up with her [Kim], na-pressure ako kasi siyempre it’s multimedia star Kim Chiu. We actually did a couple of workshops before kami nag-start, which really helped ma-break ‘yung ice,” Jake said.

As for Kim, she shared that she used humor to make Jake feel more comfortable on set. “Biruan lang para tumawa naman siya. Ganun lang, mga simpleng joke, banatan,” she said.

In the eight-episode series, Kim plays Melanie, an aspiring fashion designer abandoned by her mother and sells ukay clothes for a living. When she meets a young fashion executive (Jake Ejercito) who takes notice of her talent, Melanie’s life is turned upside down as she navigates the cutthroat world of the fashion industry where she embarks on a journey of self-awareness, empowerment, forgiveness, and love.

Because the series showcases the Filipino’s love for ukay-ukay (pre-loved clothes), Kim also embraced her character’s vibrant and innovative fashion style by wearing clothes made from scrap materials and designed by local artists during the show’s promo.

In fact, Kim wore a basahan-inspired outfit in one of the media events that received positive feedback from netizens.

Aside from Kim and Jake, “Fit Check” also stars Angel Aquino, Kylie Verzosa, Christopher De Leon, KaladKaren, Liza Lorena, Frenchie Dy, Leo Consul, Lie Reposposa, and Justine Luzares. It also features cameos from the country’s top fashion designers, models, and influencers.

“Fit Check: Confessions of an Ukay Queen” is now streaming in the Philippines and over 240 countries on Prime Video.
