Songwriter-producer Kiko “KIKX” Salazar celebrates his 10th anniversary in the music industry with a newly released EP titled “After Dark ‘Final Hour,'” featuring four songs that exhibit his ‘core’ as a musician.
The collection consists of Sam Mangubat’s “Hindi Na Nga,” Lance Busa’s “Sa Aking Mundo,” his collaboration with Kyla “TLC,” and the midnite remix of “Diyan Ba Sa Langit” sung by Morissette and Jason Dy—tracks which he considers to be ‘outcasts’ and ‘non-conforming.’
“Ten years, although short, has been a fruitful time for me to unlearn and re-learn the arts with business over and over again. As a kid growing in this industry, it took me some time to consider this as a career,” KIKX admitted, recalling how his fear and insecurities brought about moments of self-doubt.
During these times however, he learned the importance of allowing himself to be ‘broken’ and embracing people who were there for him. “The journey wasn’t so dark after all. Instead, it was more like walking an evening full of stars.”
The gifted composer also shared that every track in the “After Dark ‘Final Hour” EP seeks to remind him of his humble beginnings and pay homage to his music icons such as Mariah Carey, Babyface, Brian McKnight, and more.
“So now, let me present to you, together with my extremely talented artists and friends, the first part of what I collected so far along my way, join me on my journey forward,” he said. “This is my music. This is my art. This is what kept me alive.”
KIKX’s “After Dark ‘Final Hour'” EP is out now on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Deezer, Amazon Music, and other digital music streaming services. For more details, like Star Music on Facebook (www.facebook.com/starmusicph) and follow it on Twitter and Instagram (@StarMusicPH).
