Kapangan Hydropower Plant Leads River Clean-Up Drive In Rizal

The project department of the Kapangan Hydropower Plant in Benguet has recently sent a team to conduct a clean-up activity in Dalig River, one of the important waterways in Teresa, Rizal.

The hydropower plant, built by the Guangxi Hydroelectric Construction Bureau of China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd., also held dredging activity to help residents who suffer from floods during the rainy season due to heavy sedimentation in the river.

As part of their regular river ecological protection work, Energy China volunteers came to the Dalig River with tongs and other tools, to also remove garbage, weeds, duckweed, and fishing nets in the river, as well as long-term untreated waste in the blind areas.

Volunteers have also taught residents in the area about river protection, guiding them to pay attention to current issues such as water resource management and protection, water environment treatment, water pollution prevention and control, as well as aquatic ecological restoration.

In September last year, the Kapangan Hydropower Plant planted over 1,000 pine needles in Kapangan town to support the country’s National Greening Program. (PNA)
