Singer-actor JM De Guzman struggles with the torture of unrequited love in his new single, “Asa,” and its freshly premiered music video under Star Music.

“Asa,” self-penned by JM with ABS-CBN Music creative manager Jonathan Manalo as co-writer and producer, bares an admiration for a special someone and the willingness to love that person from afar because he feels that she is out of his league. Its lyrics is inspired by JM’s own personal experience.

The trippy love song will be one of the tracks included in his upcoming EP under Star Music.

Directed by Cris Escolano, the video meanwhile sees JM taking some time off for himself to embark on an emotional and reflective road trip, away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Many were quick to voice their appreciation for the “Asa” song and music video, with Adys Bautisa commenting on YouTube, “Bakit nangwawasak ‘to? Grabe naman this mag-trigger ng pain (Why is this emotionally destructive? It triggers pain).”

“Congrats idol JM, ang ganda ng boses mo, lalo kang nakaka-in love (Congrats idol JM, you have a nice voice and it makes you more attractive),” Beauty D said.

“Pamilya Ko” fans would also be delighted to know that Alyssa Muhlach, JM’s love interest on the show, will star alongside him on the music video for the single he released last year, “Huling Liham,” which will serve as a sequel to the “Asa” MV.

JM is just one of the versatile artists of ABS-CBN Music—which houses many of the best OPM music of today from the country’s leading media and entertainment company, ABS-CBN.
