Jericho Rosales and Kim Jones faced the massive outpour of the Typhoon Ulysses to rescue Marikina residents.
Using surfboards, the celebrity couple went out of their way to provide assistance to Filipinos who were badly affected by the calamity.
According to the actor, heavy rains instantly cause immense flooding in their area and there are situations when floating devices aren’t available, so him and Jones bring out their surfboards.
Netizens pointed out that this act of kindness was reminiscent to when the Typhoon Ondoy afflicted the city in 2009 wherein he had the initiative to extend assistance to stranded residents.
Jericho has been an active surfer since 1999.
Typhoon Ondoy left a reported number of 464 deaths as of 2013. When asked to compare the two typhoons, Rosales admitted that Typhoon Ulysses is worse due to its unforeseen repercussions.
Just this morning, photos of Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro walking through the flood surfaced online. According to Marikina PIO, the mayor was checking the status of his constituents, making sure that they have safely evacuated.
Jericho and Kim are not the only celebrities known to help out communities in need. Among the well-known personalities in this subject is Angel Locsin, who actively engages in relief efforts.
