Singer-songwriter JEL REY delves into the struggles of moving forward from a past relationship in his new single, “Bumabalik Pa Rin.”
JEL REY penned the alternative indie-pop track that talks about the desire to reconnect with an ex-lover and profess their unresolved feelings. He also produced the song with Edsel De Guzman of Drive of Daydreams and StarPop label head Roque “Rox” Santos.
The budding Kapamilya artist marked his debut as a recording artist with his first single, “hele pono,” in 2023, which earned him a nomination for Best Performance by a New Solo Artist at the 37th Awit Awards.
In the same year, he dropped his first mini album, “TERAPEWTIKA,” which features the tracks “Nasa Alapaap Ang Paraluman” and “Tayo (ating istorya).” Last month, he released the track “Naiilang,” an ode for celebrating genuine friendship.
JEL REY describes his writing style as adventurous as he tries to explore various genres from rock, hip-hop, pop, and soul. He also went viral for his relatable and unique content on TikTok, where he documents his songwriting process as well as performing to random strangers.
