German music artist J. Niklas remembers the nostalgia of youth while savoring the beauty of the present in “Never Losing Our Youth,” his new single released under ABS-CBN’s Tarsier Records.
“The song talks about embracing the present but also having the desire to free one’s inner child and let go of certain boundaries—no matter the age,” he explained, adding that “Never Losing Our Youth” aims to remind people to be fully present when in the company of the people they love.
The neo-soul, R&B track, which landed on Spotify’s “New Music Friday Philippines’” editorial playlist, is also the titular single of J. Niklas’ debut EP, which also includes previously released singles “Better Man” and “Shed No Tear” which he all wrote and produced.
Describing the EP, the singer-songwriter-producer said, “Overall it has a more laidback vibe. While the music may sound more melancholic, the lyrics are more positive and hopeful. It feels very nostalgic with ‘Never Losing Our Youth’ concluding the EP.”
Before releasing his own music through Tarsier Records as part of the label’s venture to provide a gateway for international artists to penetrate the local music scene, J. Niklas was a contestant on “The Voice of Germany” in 2019 where he reached the ‘Sing Offs’ round. Two years into music production, the Mannheim-based artist has found his own sound and is now readily showcasing his musicality through his original songs.
