MORE Electric and Power Corp. said on Tuesday it aims to complete a PHP115-million modern control and data system project here this year.

Of the total amount, PHP50 million was used for the construction of the Control Center, according to a news release.

The Control Center is capable of operating and monitoring operations in real-time, not only in Iloilo and Panay but also in other areas that MORE Power will be operating in the future.

It has the capability to control circuit breakers and switches of all substations remotely, without the need for manual intervention in the respective facilities, allowing personnel to be reassigned to more critical roles.

It also has the first-ever centralized Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) system.

The SCADA system is a harmony of software, hardware, and intelligent programming that allows the monitoring, control, data recording and forecasting of its system.

“In layman’s terms, you can monitor and control the substations remotely and gather data for analysis,” MORE Electric and Power Corp. president and chief executive officer Roel Castro said.

The SCADA system is integrated with MORE Power’s helpline to automatically inform the Control Center with each ticket that needs to be resolved and nature of complaint, among other data needed for complete resolution.

The calls are automatically logged by the system to identify common complaints so that they can be addressed more efficiently.

Aside from the Control Center, Castro said the project also includes investments in Fiber Optics, connecting to different substations and the Control Center.

MORE Power’s electric distribution utility in Iloilo City was signed by President R. Roa Duterte on Feb. 14, 2019. It will end in 2044.

MORE Power currently has 96,705 active customers. (PNA)
