About 1,298 scholarship slots have been opened by the provincial government for senior high school students of Ilocos Norte.

Willie Jake Sib-at, officer-in-charge of the Provincial Education Office, told the Philippine News Agency Tuesday that bulk of the slots, or 980 are for academic scholarship while 340 are for agriculture and fisheries and 50 for arts, with the last two under the technical-vocational-livelihood strand.

He said scholars are given PHP5,000-PHP10,000 stipend per semester.

“We are now accepting applications for the scholarship grants for our senior high school learners. We remind our applicants to complete the requirements on or before July 22, 2025,” he said.

Every year, the provincial government of Ilocos Norte has been allocating more than PHP900 million for its various scholarship programs to sustain academic excellence in the province and to help reduce poverty through education.

For the tertiary level, Sib-at said they are still waiting for existing scholars who wish to renew their application before PEO officials decide how many slots will be opened.

Existing scholars are advised to submit renewal form, accomplished voluntary service form, voluntary service documentation, Barangay (village) certification of voluntary service rendered, and original certificate of grade.

For existing junior and senior high school scholars, they are also required to submit photocopy of form 138 or the report card, authenticated Form 5 or assessment form as well as original and photocopy of certificate of enrollment. (PNA)
