Herlene “Hipon Girl” Budol, a comedian-vlogger, admitted that she felt nervous during the question and answer portion of the Miss Grand Philippines 2023.

Recently, Herlene became trending on social media with her informal answer to the judge during the pageant. Most of the netizens commented that it was “very unlikely” for her to act like that.

During the pageant’s press conference, Summer Smith of Crown Sisters asked on what other tools besides social media can she use to win the contest.

Instead of giving a straightforward answer, Herlene cracked a joke, saying, “Thank you for that long question for me, Chariz. I have a lot of followers because I have a big heart. English ‘yon, ha! Nakapag-compose po ako kaagad.”

Given this behavior, Herlene then apologizes for what she has done after receiving criticism from netizens.

On June 20, Herlene posted on her Facebook account, wherein she explained what happened at the press conference.

“Sa sobrang kaba ko po, hindi ko po na-explain ‘yung kung anong gusto ko pong sabihin, sorry. I admit di po ako magaling sa lahat ng bagay and sorry kung nawalan po kayo sakin ng kumpyansa sa isang pagkakamali. I’ll try my best to make you proud,” she said.

Herlene also elaborated that she did not understand the question when it was first mentioned, which is why she made such statements during the show.

“Hindi po ako perpekto. Thank you for those people na naniniwala pa din po sa akin,” she said.

Herlene also had a short live stream video on her Facebook account, talking to her followers about the issue.

Herlene is a Filipino comedian and vlogger who entered the world of pageantry after working as one of the hosts on a local reality show.
