In a recent interview with ABS-CBN News, rapper Aristotle Pollisco, better known as Gloc-9 opened up about the heartfelt inspiration behind his 2012 hit song ‘Sirena.’ Initially hesitant about its release, fearing unintended offense, Gloc-9 eventually revealed that the song holds a deeply personal meaning tied to his son, Sean Daniel, who came out as gay.

During his interview, Gloc-9 shared with ABS-CBN News, “Noong ire-release namin ‘yan, takot na takot ako. Takot na takot dahil ayaw kong maka-insulto ng tao.”

Later on, the rapper revealed that the response to the song was immediate and unexpected. People from various walks of life approached him, sharing their personal connections to the song.

The Story Behind “Sirena”

With tears in his eyes, Gloc-9 discloses the touching narrative behind ‘Sirena.’ At the time ‘Sirena’ was written, his son had not yet come out.

“My son is gay. Nung sinulat ko ‘yun, hindi niya pa sinasabi sa amin. Hindi ko alam kung paano ko sasabihin sa anak ko na, kung gaano ko siya kamahal,” he told ABS-CBN.

Despite his initial uncertainty, Gloc-9 expressed immense love and pride in his son, seeing the song as an unexpected gift that strengthened their bond and has now become a representation of inclusivity.
