The province is adopting the “Fun, Foodie, Friendly Iloilo” slogan for its tourism campaign under its Movement for a Robust, Progressive, Globally-competitive, and Resilient Province of Iloilo (MoRProGRes) whole-of-province approach in development.

“In three words, we capture who we are. And we want to promote the province based on who we are. We are fun, we are foodie, and we are friendly,” said Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. in a press conference at the provincial capitol board room on Thursday.

He said it is “fun” in Iloilo with 1,763 fiesta celebrations, 43 festivals, beautiful people, environment, mountains, forests, and beaches.

It is “foodie” because the province wants its tourism industry to center on food and agriculture.

“We have a lot to offer, in terms of food, but we want more. Our economy is centered on food and agriculture, and we like it that way,” Defensor said, emphasizing that foodie is placed at the center of the slogan.

It is “friendly”, he said, because by nature Filipinos are hospitable.

Defensor said it was the first time his administration adopted a slogan for its tourism campaign.

It will be presented in various events like, like food festivities.

The pictures and colors can change to suit the event where the slogan will be presented.

It was first introduced before participants of the Linggo ng Kabataan 2023 held at the provincial capitol last week, where part of their activities was the food festival. (PNA)
