The debate of whether relationships that start online actually work has long been swarming the internet. On Friday, Mar. 7, long-term couple Rei Germar and Miguel “Migy” Romulo have just settled it once and for all, as they announced the happy news of their engagement to the internet.
Migy, sharing the big moment on Instagram with a proposal video playing Ed Sheeran’s Perfect, generously made their fans a part of this monumental beginning of a new chapter.
Framed by the silhouette of the rocks on the beach, the couple hugged each other, till THE moment, when Migy dropped to one knee, pulled out the ring, and popped the question I’m sure we’ve all been waiting to hear for Rei. And, of course, she said yes.
“I’m finally engaged to my bestfriend! I wanted to say so much! But my brain was like: kneel kneel kneel!” Migy captioned in his post.

Shortly after, Migy posted another bit from their joyous milestone, photos of Rei blithesomely admiring her ring, a big symbol of the start of her new life.

Both posts garnered thousands of comments and congratulatory messages to the happy couple, from their fans to other influencers and celebrities. Amongst the beautiful messages they had were the comments expressing their relief at the proposal stating, “Finally.” A lot of people had the same sentiments because this has been a long time coming for the two.
Migy and Rei have been together for more than a decade, seriously proving internet relationships could work – a story crafted by fate and destiny. On a 2019 vlog, Migy revealed that the first time he came across Rei was on Instagram’s explore section. He followed her, shooting his shot, and much to his surprise, she followed him back. Rei also shared that in an instant, Migy became her ‘happy crush’. At church one day, a friend of Rei’s suggested she try Tinder for fun. And after countless left swipes, fate finally took matters into its hands and she landed on Migy, and the rest as they say, is history.
These two serve as such big inspirations to their fans – from their continuously blooming careers on social media, their more-than-admirable personalities and attitude about life, to the strength of their relationship that evidently stands the test of time. I’m certain we all hope nothing but the best for these two, and we can’t wait to see their married lives.
