Fishermen were advised not to sail in Pangasinan as tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1 is still up over 10 towns and Alaminos City in the western part of the province, according to the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO)
PDRRMO emergency operation center manager Ron Castillo said a gale warning has been issued in the towns of Bolinao, Anda, Bani, Agno, Mabini, Burgos, Dasol, Sual, Labrador, Infanta, and Alaminos City as Tropical Storm “Pepito” exits at the West Philippine Sea.
“Fishermen were advised not to sail due to the bad weather while the local government units were also told to consider pre-emptive evacuation if needed,” he said in an interview on Wednesday.
Although the rest of the province no longer has a storm signal, moderate to strong rains and winds are still experienced due to the outer rain bond or tail of the storm, Castillo said.
“According to the weather bureau, we will still experience rain until Wednesday night,” he added.
As of 11 a.m. on Wednesday, there were no reported flooding or casualty in the province.
“The river systems based on our monitoring are still below normal,” he said.
Pepito is now moving westward at 30 kilometers per hour (kph) with winds up to 85 kph and gustiness of up to 105 kph.
Governor Amado Espino III issued Tuesday an order for the local and barangay risk reduction and management offices to review all necessary protocols in emergency response preparedness (ERP) plans and disaster management plans in line with the existing coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) protocols.
