The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has prepared 93,750 family food packs and 17,066 other food and non-food items for Ilocos Region residents affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami).

DSWD data show that the PHP104.2 million worth of prepositioned food and non-food items in the 19 regional and provincial satellite warehouses are now ready for distribution to local government units (LGUs).

Each family food pack contains six kilos of rice, four cans of tuna, four cans of corned beef, two cans of sardines, five sachets of instant coffee, and five sachets of cereal.

In a forum hosted by the Philippine Information Agency Ilocos on Thursday, DSWD Ilocos Region Director Marie Angela Gopalan said they have not received any augmentation request from localities.

“There were no request yet, meaning they were prepared and they have available stockpile,” she said, adding request for augmentation will be validated first.

Among the provinces in the region, La Union has provided 1,058 food and non-food items to their affected residents while Pangasinan has extended 480 hygiene kits and food to the evacuees as of noon Thursday. (PNA)
