The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Caraga (DSWD-13) has prepositioned over 158,000 family food packs (FFPs) in strategic areas across the region.
The move aims to ensure that no family is left behind in times of crisis, the DSWD-13 said in a statement on Monday.
Readily available resources would allow for swift delivery to affected communities, minimizing delays and ensuring that urgent needs are met during disasters, it added.
“With the changing patterns of weather and the increasing occurrence of natural hazards, the DSWD-13 stands ever ready to respond to untoward emergencies,” the agency said.
A total of 4,450 FFPs are prepositioned in five towns of Agusan del Norte; 7,075 in four towns and one city of Agusan del Sur; 20,902 FFPs in five towns of Dinagat Islands; 28,900 in 10 towns and one city of Surigao del Norte; and 35,842 in 12 towns and one city of Surigao del Sur.
An additional 57,024 FFPs are also available at the agency’s regional warehouses in Butuan City, San Francisco in Agusan del Sur, Surigao City, and Tandag City.
The agency said it is working closely with local government units and partner agencies in strengthening preparedness measures. (PNA)
