As Metro Manila is still under the general community quarantine, the public transportation capacity is still being limited. With this, many Metro Manila residents who are going to work uses bicycle as their alternative mode of transportation.

To encourage more people to use the bicycle as the “new normal” way of commuting, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) started installing bicycle racks at LRT stations and PNR Transit Lines.

At the LRT Line 1 bicycle racks are installed already at Central, Libertad, and EDSA Taft stations. For LRT Line 2 bicycle racks are already installed at the Legarda Station.

And just recently the Department of Tourism announced that the bicycle racks at the PNR Tutuban station are already installed.

The parking of bikes is for free, but bike owners must provide their own safety locks. Bicycle owners may also park their bicycles from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM only but they may still claim it until the close operation of the station.

The DOTr is also in cooperation with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) in creating bicycle lanes along EDSA to ensure the safety of commuters who uses bicycle.
