The Department of Health (DOH) 5 (Bicol), through its Public Health Preparedness and Response Unit, continues to replenish health supplies for residents affected by the ongoing activity of Mayon Volcano, officials reported Tuesday.

The DOH-5 said more than 5,000 affected residents from Tabaco City, Malilipot, Camalig, Ligao City, and Guinobatan are beneficiaries of health commodities, including face masks, essential medicines, and pulse oximeters.

Among the items distributed were chlorine granules, troclosene sodium, water containers, hygiene kits, surgical masks, breastfeeding commodities, glucometers, insecticide-treated nets, oral rehydration salts, and emergency medical kits.

Based on the report, DOH-5 has already provided more than PHP3 million worth of medical supplies to affected families since the start of evacuations in January.

The DOH-5 also operates a 24/7 DOH-local government unit operations center and maintains standby medical stations in different evacuation centers.
