For Spring/Summer 2027, Marques’Almeida continues to explore the tension at the heart of the brand: between rawness and refinement, structure and movement, the everyday and the extraordinary.

Following recent seasons of evolution and a growing embrace of a more elevated language, SS27 pushes that conversation forward. Elegance is present, but never too polished or following the traditional or expected. Femininity appears throughout the collection, but it is disrupted, exaggerated, contradicted and grounded by the instinctive irreverence that has always defined M’A.

The collection plays with opposing ideas of proportion and silhouette. Sculptural volumes sit alongside long, lean shapes; dramatic peplums are paired with cargo elements and shiny sequins in masculine and slouchy shapes; frills interrupt tailoring and denim; floor-length skirts sit alongside more pragmatic pieces that resemble workwear.

Familiar M’A codes return and evolve: distressed denim, raw edges, asymmetric construction and deconstructed silhouettes meet satin, lace, sheer textures, brocades and richly worked surfaces.

There is a sense of occasion running through SS27, but one that refuses conventional ideas of dressing up. Dresses become deliberately excessive, and trains fall to the floor.

Colour moves between deep black, beige and lavender tones, burgundy, sky blue and deep indigo. Prints and textures add on rather than coordinate, creating the feeling that pieces have been collected, layered and lived in rather than perfectly styled.

That tension extends to the casting and styling. As always, the M’A person is not one woman or one man. There’s a lot in between. Individuality remains more important than what the world told us perfection is supposed to be. Perfection is an unrealistic word.

SS27 reflects a Marques’Almeida that continues learning and challenging itself without becoming restrained by the challenges of an independent label. The refinement of recent seasons remains, but so does the instinct to undo it: to roughen the edges, disturb the silhouette and leave something unfinished.

It is elegance on M’A’s own terms: emotional, imperfect and a little chaotic.
