The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Monday forged a partnership that would enable families graduating from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) to acquire homes under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.
In a news release, the DHSUD reported that the partnership was formalized at the Abuab Towers, through the signing of a joint memorandum circular (JMC) that institutionalizes housing assistance for 4Ps beneficiaries.
Abuab Towers is among the projects under the flagship Expanded 4PH Program. It is composed of 17 multi-story buildings, with 4,330 housing units on a 4.6- hectare development in Barangay Guitnang Bayan 2.
The event also featured the ceremonial turnover of housing units to selected families.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said the initiative “strengthens government convergence, helping families sustain the gains of social protection while securing safe, resilient, and dignified homes.”
“Ito po’y alinsunod sa utos ng ating Pangulong Marcos Jr. na siguruhing mapaabot natin ang lahat ng tulong sa ating mga kababayan, lalo na ang mga higit na nangangailangan (This is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure that all forms of assistance reach our fellow Filipinos, especially those who are most in need),” he added.
For his part, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian underscored the long-term impact of the collaboration. He said the continuous partnership between the DHSUD and the DSWD will extend greater benefits to the country’s poorest households.
The JMC marked a key step in transitioning families from social welfare dependency to long-term stability, ensuring that those graduating from the 4Ps program can look forward to more secure futures under 4PH.
It is in line with President Marcos Jr.’s call for a whole-of-government approach to strong inter-agency and local support for the program. (PNA)
