The active cases among Filipinos afflicted with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) abroad stand at 4,091 as of Jan. 30, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Saturday, with the recoveries climbing to 8,919 this week.

From Jan. 24 to 30, the agency recorded 184 new infections, five deaths, and 102 recoveries.

“Today, the DFA received 22 new Covid-19 reports in the Americas. Meanwhile, no new recovery and no new fatality were recorded (today),” it said.

The case count of overseas Filipinos with Covid-19 since the pandemic started has reached 13,960, of whom 4,091 are undergoing treatment, 8,919 recovered, and 950 died.

Recoveries are concentrated in the Middle East/Africa region with 4,754 to date, followed by the Asia Pacific with 1,974, Europe with 1,655, and the Americas with 536.

The five Filipino fatalities recorded on Jan. 29 were all from Europe.

“Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of Covid-19 fatalities and recoveries saw a slight decrease to 6.81 percent and 63.89 percent, respectively,” the DFA said.

Those under treatment, meanwhile, slightly increased to 29.31 percent, it added. (PNA)
